Using Job Rules to Determine You Career Path

When you graduate from college finding a job, has always been the next logical steps. It is also one of the hardest steps in life to make. Technically, you are no longer a child you are an adult. You are now on your own; your parents are no longer supporting you. While all of this is true, this is not the hardest part of graduating from college. The hardest part is trying to figure out what focus you want your career path to go down. Unless, you have chosen a specialized career like Nursing where you job roles are usually determined before you get your degree, or attending graduate school.

If you are like most undergraduates and do not have a specialization or are not going directly to graduate school, then you career path may not be as clear and concise as others. For those students, trying to determine the correct career path can be difficult. This is made even more difficult if you do not know what the different career paths you have or what jobs and job roles are associated with the different industries. This is how I felt when I graduated from college. I did not have a clue what I was going to do with the rest of my life. A couple of weeks before graduation I met with a career counselor and at that point there was not much they could do for me. However, one of the most valuable things they did do for me was to point me in the direction of a career guiding or counseling company.

This company turned out to be my saving grace. After taking a few tests, they were able to provide me with a list of jobs along with their job roles that would suit my personality and demeanor. The entire process took under three hours. The tests are remarkably straightforward. They are more like personality test. However, they helped determine my likes and dislike from my strengths and weaknesses. All of this information combined to produce a list of job roles that will best suit me. I do not think I would be where I am today if it was not for this turn of events. I now recommend that every senior go through this experience before they graduate. Take it from one who knows, it will save you time and misery in the long run.
