New Content Helps with SEO

One thing the search engines seem to really like is fresh content. Check out any Webmaster Forum and you will see that time and time again as part of good SEO techniques. Bottom line is that most of us rely on search engine traffic, so like it or not we have to, to a certain extent, keep them happy so our site gets ranked highly on the keywords we want. So, the question is, how do we give them fresh content?

Well, there are several ways we can do this. Firstly, and probably the most obvious way, is to add to what is already on our pages. Suppose you have a site on motor cars, broken down in to individual pages on various categories of cars. You might have a page on modern sports cars, for example, so you could add a paragraph or two about the latest car to come out of the Aston Martin stables-the Rapide-Aston Martin’s first four-door, four-seat sports car. With some facts about how many of these cars are due to be produced, where, cost etc this adds fresh, up to date content to your site.

On the other hand of course, you might have a site which is all about just sports cars. In that case you could add a complete new page to discuss the Aston Martin Rapide, putting much more detail in as you focus on that one new model.

Either way, you are keeping your site fresh, and up to date, which goes down well with Google and the rest. What about adding a blog to your site? That way fresh content is added on an almost daily basis, again keeping the content fresh and up to date. News stories are ideal for blogs.

If you are good at writing articles add those to your site (in keeping with the theme of your site of course). How about press releases, useful tips, reader comments? These can all be a part of your site’s development and expansion and help to get you noticed among the billions of other sites on today’s Internet.
