How I Was Accepted At The Helpline

I had a great feeling today: the water from the shower suddenly went from hot to cold; breakfast got burnt; the dog tore the mail in half; and I had just been accepted for an interview for a new job. The day couldn’t get better, right? I didn’t bother to take a cab – which was unusual – and decided to walk instead. It was because I was feeling so light that I didn’t feel my feet hurt when I came to the building. It was my first interview for a job since I graduated College. My job application was accepted by the independent IT consultancy company, The Helpline. The Helpline is well known for its specialization with web design, database design, project management and Visual Basic applications. When I was in High-school, I started to take-over the sideline work of my dad. He was a programmer and he already programmed a few school systems for on line book searching in libraries and also for archives. His works are not as great as how other young programmers do their programs but his are very user friendly and cheap. He asked the schools that wanted to buy his program, payments for the tutorial of how to use the program and the CD is free. We always say that it was too cheap for a library system but that is how he liked it. Ever since he taught me how to make the system, I started to improve his work and make more applications that could be used in the library to better security of the books and its use.

I walked in the office and the secretary was already expecting me. She led me to the own office of the Director. “Ah, Ms. Kinsley. It is a pleasure to have you today.” He greeted me with a warm smile and we also shook hands. “T-Thank you for having me here in thehelpline.” I was so excited and nervous at the same time that I was stuttering and even said the company name in a hurry. After the greeting, the interview started. I tried to be calm and answer the questions straight to the point. He asked about my background on programming, my experience and other questions related to it. After the nerve wrecking first interview the director sent me home with, “Thank you for coming today Ms. Kinsley.  I hope to see you tomorrow for your first day of work. Congratulations.” I was so happy and relieved that I told my friends we’ll have dinner tonight, my treat.
