It is best to have four to six prongs for the maximum security because this setting does not protect from snags. Bar setting is a variation of prong setting. Rows of bars instead of claw prongs hold the stone in place. Box setting is similar to channel setting. Rows of metal are divided into boxes thar hold each stone in place, without any metal between them. Bezel setting is the most secure because a metal collar holds each stone in place without elevating them. This setting also protects the stone from dust and dirt. Because eternity bands mostly consist of stones, it is essential to have the highest quality diamonds in them. The gems have to be colorless or near colorless, D to J on the grade scale, and with little or no imperfections, FL to VS grade on the clarity scale.
